Hollenden House in Buckhurst Road is up for auction shortly through Clive Emson Auctioneers at an estimate of ?2.2-?2.5 million. Planning permission exists for conversion of existing property into 24 flats plus parking, but there is also a suggestion for demolition and construction of "up to 50 units" on the land. There is more than enough property for sale already in Bexhill, but we still don't have a modern hotel/conference centre that would attract delegates from large companies outside the area for 2-3 day stays. This would bring in money to the town and provide employment. The site is only a couple of minutes from the railway station and the sea. The top floor may well have sea views. Is there anyone out there who is willing to develop this great site into something better than yet more retirement flats?
Totally Agree

I fully agree with you that there is enough property in Bexhill. I live on Buckhurst Road and have just witnessed the new Macathy & Stone building for the elderly on this road. Ironically Bexhill could be losing the Leisure centre due to the new link road going that direction - again something for the young being taken away. The reality is that Bexhill-on-sea is diliberately being run down - hence no tourist board etc - until this council is changed nothing will change.
Sorry I do not have 2.5 million!!!!!!!
