James I was at you grand dads school Merland House in the early days 1947 - 49.i cannot tell you his wife name but he had a daughter called Dorothy my age 78. he and his wife ran the place but were strict. they had a matron and I remember the malt and god liver oil every week. They were very good to me as at times I stayed over the holiday period as well We had day pupils as well as children from London and in my case from Bristol he use to take us by train to Victoria to meet our relatives for school hols I remember the letter writing days well as I swallowed a nail panic set in but by Mr Smiths action prevented something serious happening.I use to be given the job of exercising his labrador dog pulled me over and got away. The sea could be seen from the school but was over a mile away. The school had beach hut and the boys use to change outside and the girls giggling inside. I have put a number of names on an earlier blog the school itself has been demolished and replace by a care home but when this happened i dont know. If you ant to contact me tx me on my mobile 0786699163.Regards Paul
